Notes

Whether you are running to win or doing a fun, leisurely run or walk, you are sure to enjoy the beauty of the South Mountain, and Sierra Estrella Mountain ranges as you wind your way around desert trails, grassy areas and Alvord Lake with its very own island. The chip-timed 10K and 5K courses use a mixture of concrete and dirt paths, and a couple of small jaunts on paved streets as you work your way through Cesar Chavez Park and Montana Vista. The 1 milla fun run and walk course is not timed and uses paved paths through Cesar Chavez Park around Alvord Lake. Sports strollers, sports wheelchairs, and leashed pets are allowed at this event.

Vamos AZ Run 2019

Things to Know

Exclusions/Inclusions

Skateboards, skates, bicycles, wagons, and the like are not allowed.

Pets, sports strollers, and sports wheelchairs are allowed. When planning to bring a leashed pet, or when planning to use a sports stroller or sports wheelchair, it must be selected as a part of your race registration or added later through change requests.

Personal Information

For each participant to receive email and text notifications on race day, or a participant feedback survey, make sure each registered participant has a unique email address and cell phone number, and not a landline.

If you have accidentally typo’d during your registration or registered another participant with inaccurate information, it will remain incorrect in race day results unless you take necessary steps to identify and correct it.

Participating with inaccurate information in your race entry such as gender and birthdate, or participating as someone else affects everyone, not just you.

Always make sure your information is accurate including taking steps to transfer your race entry to someone else when needed. Doing so is free.

Validate the information in your registration confirmation at the time of receipt as well as on the results monitors on race day or online immediately following your completion of the race. Pay particular attention to gender, birthdate or age group division, and the spelling of your name.

In advance of the event, to correct a discrepancy in your race entry or to transfer it, go to change requests, or you can make changes onsite during pre-packet pickup or at registration.

If you identify a discrepancy in your race entry upon completing the race, go to the timing station near the finish line before finalization of results and have it reviewed for correction. After results close, you can send an email to info@phxfr.org for review to determine what, if anything, can be done to address your concern.

Correctly Wearing Your Bib

Correctly wearing your bib will help ensure accurate reads as you cross timing points and ultimately will help ensure a timing result that is recordable. It will also help make sure a race crew member does not stop you on the course as a result of not correctly displaying your bib.

Always place your bib on your front torso unobstructed. Alternatively, it is okay to attach your bib to an upper thigh facing forward. Do not bend the timing chip, remove the foam tape covering the timing chip or put the bib anywhere else on your body including the back of your torso or where it is hidden. The foam tape, in addition to helping ensure timing chip reads, also helps prevent moisture from getting onto the timing chip from sweat or rain. Keep your bib away from liquid.

If needed, safety pins are available at onsite registration to help you attach your bib to your clothing.

Race Category

You may not participate in any race category where you are not registered. Instead, use “Transfer my race entry to another race category” to transfer into a new race category. View change requests for details on correctly transferring your race entry into a new category.

Deactivating Your bib

If you have secured your bib, have it with you on race day and have decided not to participate in the race, make sure you have gone to the timing station to have the bib deactivated. Not doing so can cause your bib to read placing you into race results as participating in error and affect the result placements and awards of those who did the race. Similarly, please do the same for anyone else’s bib you have that is not participating.

If you start the race and for any reason do not complete the full course, make sure you go to the timing station to have your bib deactivated. Not doing this can place you into race results in error and affect the result placements and awards of those who did complete the race.

Race Shirt

Though we do our best to forecast size and type of shirt they are not guaranteed. If you do not receive the shirt you want, you can go to registration immediately following the race to determine whether or not an exchange is possible. You must not wear any shirt you receive if you want to attempt exchanging it after the run.

Swag

While supplies last. Swag bags have a mixture of goodies inside from multiple sources. Content may vary from bag to bag and swag is not guaranteed as a part of your registration.

Medical

A first aid kit will be available at the start and finish for minor incidents. If you or someone you are observing needs medical assistance, please notify a race crew member. If you believe you or someone else may be experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.

Water Stations

Water stations are approximately every 1.5 miles to 2.5 miles for the 10K and the 5K. Water will be available at the start, finish and expo.

Park Toilets

Park toilets will be available at various locations near the start, finish and expo, and varying areas of the park. Main locations can be viewed on the course maps under course information.

Bag Check

This event does not offer a bag check service. Please plan the storing of any personal items accordingly.

Participant Food & Beverage

Light refreshments will be available to participants at the refreshment table before and after the 10K, 5K races, and 1 mile fun run and walk while supplies last.
